Who comes to Yoga Journal LIVE?
Yoga Journal LIVE! is for everybody! It is a community of top teachers, practitioners, yoga enthusiasts, and those new to yoga. Yogis of every experience level, from those stepping on the mat for the very first time to those who have been practicing for years, come together for one to five days of deeper study and joy. The event is a great convergence of yogis from California, the U.S. and abroad!
What is the Yoga Market and Sangha Space?
In addition to classes and special events, each Yoga Journal LIVE! event features a Yoga Market that is free and open to the public. Here you will find products, services and samples from a variety of partners and vendors, plus the Sangha Space stage with demos, music, happy hours, and more!
I like yoga, but I'm not an advanced student or yoga teacher. Is Yoga Journal LIVE! for me?
Yes! You need not be an advanced practitioner to enjoy Yoga Journal LIVE! This is your opportunity to explore the many styles of yoga, different teachers and to discover the practice that speaks to you. An open mind is a great asset for your experience, as you will find many new ideas presented to the yoga community. Yoga Journal LIVE! is a unique opportunity to study with teachers whom you have read about or followed along online or in a video. It is a chance to experience world-class yoga instruction, discover how your favorite styles of yoga are evolving, and sample many styles of yoga in one place.
I'm not a yoga teacher but am thinking about becoming one. Are Continue Your Education classes for me?
The Continue Your Education classes are geared towards yoga teachers and teachers-in-training. However, advanced students thinking about becoming yoga teachers may appreciate the in-depth discussions and explorations that these classes provide.
What is included in my registration fees?
In addition to your classes you have access to the Yoga Market and most daily special events-morning meditations, demos, panel discussions, and lunchtime workshops. Transportation, meals, and lodging are not included in tuition registration fees.
Are meals included in the price of the event?
Meals are not included with the program. There are a number of restaurants on the premises and the culinary team at the Del pulls inspiration from the bounty of the sea, San Diego's best farms, and the hotel's own herb garden. For more information visit hoteldel.com/restaurant-coronado/
What should I bring?
Don't forget your yoga mat and any props that you regularly use in your practice. A blanket or meditation cushion is helpful if you plan to participate in meditation classes. You may also want to bring a notebook and pen, a refillable water bottle, slip-on shoes (or flip flops) and of course, comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely. Please read course descriptions carefully for other required items. These items may also be for sale in the Yoga Market. Please check your program for hours of operation.
Are there Continuing Education Credits available?
Yoga Journal is recognized by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a continuing education specialist, and many of the Weekend classes are eligible for CECs for athletic and fitness professionals. Click here to learn more.
All classes are eligible for Continuing Education Credits with Yoga Alliance. To receive Yoga Alliance credits, simply save a copy of your class record (badge or confirmation email.) Yoga Alliance will contact you when they need you to submit your continuing education information. Separate certificates are not needed for Yoga Alliance.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Feeling the need to take child's pose? If you can't attend some or all of your scheduled classes: Email us at Registration@YJMag.com acknowledging the processing fee below. All cancellations and refund requests MUST be made in writing. Once we've received your request, we'll email you back to confirm and outline how this policy will apply to you and your situation:
- Cancellations received on or before June 4, 2015 will be issued a refund, minus a $100 processing fee.
- Cancellations received after June 4, 2015 but more than 24 hours before your firs scheduled class will receive a nonrefundable voucher (minus $100 processing fee) toward a future Yoga Journal LIVE event, valid for one year. Vouchers will be issued two weeks after the event.
- There are NO REFUNDS or vouchers for cancellations received less than 24 hours before your first scheduled class, or for classes you did not attend or left for any reason.
- There are NO REFUNDS or vouchers for Friday evening classes or paid special events; however, these tickets can be given to a friend for no additional fee.
If you can still attend part of your registration but not all sessions, a portion of the $100 cancellation fee (up to half) will be assessed and the cost of the sessions you attend will be reevaluated. Refunds will be issued for any remaining cancelled class fees.
If you would like to transfer your entire registration to another person, there is a $20 transfer fee. You may not transfer a part of your registration.
Sometimes, things come up--we understand. If you have a serious reason for being unable to attend, you are welcome to petition for an exception to this policy. To do so, please email us explaining your situation, outlining what you are asking for specifically, and including any documentation to support your case (documentation is optional but recommended). These petitions must be submitted by July 6, 2015 to be considered, and the decision regarding your petition may take up to one month after the event.
There are NO REFUNDS for any paid special events that you choose to add when selecting your classes.
Where is The Hotel Del Coronado located and how do I get there?
Only a 15-minute drive from the San Diego International Airport, The Del is considered by many as one of the most beautiful resort destinations in the world. Nestled on 28 stunning oceanfront acres, The Del is conveniently located just across the bay from downtown San Diego and its many attractions.
To arrange for private car transportation, please contact LaCosta Limousine at 1-888-299-5466. Approximate taxi fare from the San Diego International Airport to Hotel del Coronado is $30 each way. Approximate one-way taxi fares to popular San Diego destinations: Zoo - $25, SeaWorld - $40, Downtown/Gaslamp - $25, La Jolla - $75, Legoland - $120, Safari Park - $130, Coronado Ferry Landing - $8. Do I need to stay at the hotel?
No. However, staying on-site at the hotel does enhance your experience as you will not have to worry about commuting to the event.
Is there a message board to find a roommate? Yes! Use the message board to contact other participants to find a roommate or carpool to the event. Click here for the message board. The access code is 619.
Where is the parking and is it free?
For Hotel Del Coronado guests, valet is $47 per day w/ in and out privileges.
Visitor is self park is $28 for first 2hrs, $10 for each additional hr ($58/day max)
Visitor valet is $33 for first 2hrs, $10 for each additional hour ($63/day max)
(3hr validation for self park is available with dining or shopping purchase of $50.)
There is also limited street parking available. Please check the signs surrounding the hotel for parking restrictions.
Can I register for just one class during the weekend?
Advanced registrations are only accepted for day passes or a weekend pass. Single class passes will be available for sale (on a space-available basis) beginning Monday, June 22.
What if I want to change a class?
Class changes are welcome on a space-available basis and can be made online, by email or phone in advance by April 13, 2015, or on site during the event. After the first change, a $10 fee will apply.
How do I add something to my existing registration?
Contact the coordinator at 303.625.1650 or 800-561-9398 or via email to Registration@YJMag.com. There is no additional fee to add to your registration.
Is there a check-in procedure at Yoga Journal LIVE?
Yes. You must check in at the Yoga Journal Registration Desk on the 2nd Floor of the Hilton. You must have a photo ID or a copy of your registration records to sign in. Class access badges will be presented to you upon check-in and will be your only admission to events. Badges MUST be presented at the door to be admitted.
What happens if I lose my badge?
Be sure to check in with the Registration Desk as soon as you realize you've lost your badge. Most badges are found by other attendees and turned in to the Registration Desk. If your badge is not found, a replacement badge will be reissued for a $20 fee.
Who do I contact if I can't make it to the event?
Last-minute cancellations must be received via email before your first scheduled class in order to be considered for a voucher; all cancellations within 24 hours of your first class are not automatically eligible for a voucher. All voucher consideration will be completed after the event, and all supporting documentation for voucher requests must be received by July 6, 2015. No refund or voucher will be given for no-shows. Are you looking for people to volunteer at the event?
Yes, we have a work exchange volunteer program. Work exchange volunteers do not register for classes but can participate in classes on a space-available basis when not fulfilling their assigned duties. Work exchange volunteers pay a nominal fee to participate. Positions are limited; apply early. For more information, contact our registration team via email at KMares@AIMMedia.com.
Can I pass out flyers and brochures before Yoga Journal LIVE?
Yes, we would love your help in spreading the word about our event and there are many ways to be involved! Please click here if you are interested in becoming an outreach volunteer or studio partner.
Is there someplace to store my mat and props during lunch and other long breaks?
No, there is no place to store your belongings during the breaks. You may be able to place your mat and props into your next classroom during the breaks. However, we strongly discourage bringing any valuables to the event. Unfortunately, losses have occurred at past events. Yoga Journal and the Hilton New York are not responsible for any lost or stolen items throughout the event.
