Nicki Doane began her yoga journey in college, which led her to India in 1991 upon graduating. There she met her teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who taught her to love her practice and to remain joyful in it. Although rooted in Ashtanga Yoga, Nicki's classes are in the Maya Yoga style, which combines asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, and poetry. She is known for being precise, passionate, and funny in her presentation of the sacred practice of yoga. Nicki lives in Maui, Hawaii, with her family and runs the Maya Yoga Studio with her husband and teaching partner, Eddie Modestini. Learn more at

Integrating asana with philosophy is one of the benchmarks of Maya Yoga Vinyasa Fusion. If you are deeply interested in all that yoga has to offer and you want to share that through teaching, then it's time to view yoga as a holistic practice. We'll focus on the introductory principles of becoming an efficient, effective, and responsible yoga teacher. The morning session will focus on pranayama and vigorous asana practice, while the afternoon will include theory, discussion, and hands-on adjustments.

Just as a house cannot stand tall without a firm foundation, so the human body cannot stand tall and strong without healthy, strong feet and legs. Explore the general anatomy of the feet, knees, and hips and learn postures that will help to open these areas safely and effectively. This work is absolutely essential for all yoga teachers.

Do you want to learn how to adjust some of the most commonly taught yoga postures in vinyasa yoga today? If you do, then this is the class for you! We'll cover Downward Dog, Child's Pose, Chaturanga Dandasana, Triangle Pose, Side Angle Pose, and Savasana. We'll also take requests for other poses, time permitting. This class is important for all teachers who are interested in helping their students progress.

Come discover the lunge work for which Maya Yoga is famous. We'll pay special attention to cultivating awareness in the legs and feet to ground more deeply to the earth, which allows us to release the tension in our hips. Once this is done, we can then explore the more advanced poses that yoga has to offer. Come prepared to dive deep as we provide you with valuable information to cultivate your seat of awareness and learn to sit comfortably for the rest of your life.
